Why Plastics?

Haven’t you heard? Plastics are fantastic! They truly are! Since the advent of their creation, plastics have become ubiquitous within our society and economy. Plastics have formed the bedrock and foundation of our truly disposable culture, unlike any other material formed upon this planet.

Don’t believe me? Fine, I won’t take it personally. However, at some point in the next few days, take a moment, and look around and just see how much plastic is in your life. Plastic is quite literally everywhere, being found in our food packagingpens, and even our facial cleaners.

Plastics are not fantastic then?

The ubiquity of plastics within our economy and society, along with their production trends since the advent of the ‘Great Acceleration’, were the fundamental core tenets behind the inception of plastics as a blog post. The plastic research project grew in terms of scope to involve the pertinent focus upon examining plastic implications within our marine and terrestrial environments. The archetypal focus of this blog therefore, is to highlight and examine anthropogenic environmental change through the acerbic insight granted by plastics.
